Moscow Exchange to expand equity derivatives offering
On 14 October 2020, Moscow Exchange will introduce deliverable futures contracts on shares of Polymetal and Inter RAO UES, as well as on global depositary receipts of Mail.ru.
The new instruments will expand MOEX’s equity derivatives offering and provide further trading opportunities for investors.
Futures series will be introduced with expiration in December 2020 and March 2021.
The contracts have the following specifications:
- Polymetal: one lot – ten ordinary shares; underlying asset code – POLY; short code – PO;
- Inter RAO UES: one lot – 10,000 ordinary shares; underlying asset code – IRAO; short code – IR;
- Mail.ru: one lot – ten depositary receipts; underlying asset code – MAIL; short code – ML.
Equity derivatives trading on MOEX is continuing to grow: in the first nine months of 2020, the average daily trading volume in single-stock and index futures and options was RUB 146.9 billion, 1.5x higher than in the same period of 2019.
Currently, the MOEX Derivatives Market offers 74 futures contracts and 37 options on futures, including 34 single-stock futures and 24 options on these futures.
