The MICEX10 Index was launched on March 19, 2001 with the initial value of 100 points as of 6.00 pm MSK on December 30, 1997. The Index is the unweighted index calculated as an average of changes in prices of ten the most liquid blue chip stocks, admitted to trading on CJSC MICEX Stock Exchange (regardless of the MICEX Stock Exchange quotation lists).

The Index tracks a real time performance (from 10.30am to 7.00pm MSK) of a portfolio consisted of the 10 stocks with equal weights at the beginning.  This indicator was primarily designed for day-trades as it allows tracking any tiny price fluctuations in respect of the most traded financial instruments.  The MICEX10 Index is the first on-exchange Russian index with the methodology that does not imply price averaging by time while the index is recalculated each time a trade in one of its ten constituents is executed in the main trading mode.

More detailed information about the MICEX10 Index is available in the website of the Exchange.
